Academic Profile

Tsaela (Zeala) Pinto Harel

Published academically as Zeala Pinto.

PhD candidate in Business Administration researching gender, recognition, sponsorship, digital bias, and women's advancement in high-tech and knowledge-intensive careers.

My work examines the moments where professional potential does, or does not, become visible advancement: how contribution is recognized, how sponsorship is built, how networks and evaluation systems shape mobility, and how organizations lose talent before the loss becomes visible in formal metrics.

Research Interests

What I am passionate about

I am interested in the hidden architecture of advancement: the informal and formal mechanisms that determine whose work is seen, whose potential is trusted, who is sponsored into opportunity, and who is quietly filtered out of the path.

  • Gender, work, and organizations
  • Recognition, sponsorship, and advancement
  • Women in high-tech and knowledge-intensive careers
  • Digital and AI-mediated bias in talent systems
  • Career transitions, visibility, and institutional support

Current Questions

Questions I keep returning to

  • How does strong professional contribution become visible, recognized, and sponsored?
  • Where do women lose access to informal networks, opportunity, trust, or leadership pathways?
  • How do digital systems and human gatekeepers interact in hiring, evaluation, and advancement?
  • What can organizations and institutions see earlier, before talent becomes disengaged or leaves?
